Pak Kasim's Hill House Villa, Bau-Bau, Southeast Sulawesi

This is a beautiful place with 360 degree views set atop a hill above the town of Bau-Bau on Buton Island. You can watch sunrises over the rain forest and sunsets across the sea and mountainous islands in the distance. A villa set in beautiful flower gardens with cool breezes and open skies where you will undoubtedly feel yourself relax and unwind after a days diving. The food is excellent and you will be welcomed and well looked after by the local owners Ibu and Pak Kasim along with their friendly staff members. It is only a 5 minute taxi ride into the center of town where you can enjoy a range of local warungs (food stalls) and restaurants.

Little Bali Resort, Ngkari-Ngkari Village
This new resort is also owned by Ibu and Pak Kasim. It is situated in the tranquil Balinese village of Ngkari-Ngkari and is surrounded by rice paddies, organic fruit and vegetable gardens, and fresh water fish ponds, all of which provide the raw produce for their excellent open air restaurant. You can really relax here and get away from it all as the atmosphere is so peaceful. The resort is a 20 minute drive from Bau-Bau, and the friendly owners will often pick you up and drop you off in town. For those with plenty of time, a stay here will definitely please, however for the crazy divers amongst you it is a little far out of town if you are planning to dive 2-3 dives a day. Even if you don't stay here you can always visit for a fresh coconut and a locally and organically grown lunch. See other attractions page.

Langit Biru Bungalows
This tranquil place offers comfortable en-suite bungalows set back from a small white sandy beach lined by coconut palms. You can watch beautiful sunsets and step out of your bungalow for a swim or a spot of sunbathing at any time. There is no restaurant facility but the owners can order a variety of take away for you, and you can take a short taxi ride into Bau-Bau town, where there are numerous eating options.

Wolio Backpackers
This is the extreme budget option and doesn’t come highly recommended, except for shoestring backpackers. However it is relatively clean, cheap and in the center of town where there is a lot going on, and from where you can easily walk to the cheap food stalls which set up every evening near the harbor.

Wakatobi, Hoga Island

Hoga beach, WakatobiHoga Beach from Pak Kasim Resort, WakatobiHoga Island is truly a paradise in which you can relax and unwind. Hoga is a small island in the heart of the Wakatobi with no roads and only one small fishing village, which is a half hour walk away from the home stay where you will stay. At night time the stars are amazing and if you take a stroll along the beach you will see trees alight full of fireflies. One of the great pastimes in the evening is to take a walk along the beach in the splash zone and watch your footprints light up with the bio-luminescence. There are small kabanna's where you can relax in a hammock and watch the sunset. We often make campfires on the beach in the evenings, where you can sit, chat and take in the stars, a great way to relax after a days diving!

Hoga Cottages

Hoga Cottages, Hoga Island, WakatobiThis is a small locally run wakatobi business offering traditional style bungalows on wooden stilts set back from the beach. Each bungalow has its own small bathroom and a large veranda where you can relax in a hammock or the rattan chairs provided. Beds are equipped with mosquito nets. There is no electricity on the island so kerosene lamps are used at night time. There is however opportunity to charge camera batteries, and hand phones etc in the dive shop which has a small generator and solar panels. Three meals a day, tea, coffee and drinking water are all included in the price and the friendly owners, Mama and Bapak Emi, are very welcoming and used to catering for vegetarians.

Hoga Island Resort - Pak Kasim's

Pak Kasim's Hoga Island Resort bungalows, WakatobiThis is another small locally run business providing similar accommodation to Hoga cottages, the main difference being that the food here is little more imaginative and varied, better mattresses are provided, and most of the bungalows have a great sea view. This establishment is owned and managed by the same people as Hill House Villa in Bau-Bau and their most senior staff member Wia will be your hostess.
