next step is to get to Bau-Bau where we will meet you. There are a number of
ways you can do this.
- The
easiest way is to take a direct flight from Makassar to Bau-Bau with Express Air or Lion Air. There are now 3 daily flights available (see details above).
- Another
option is to fly from Makassar to Kendari, there is a range of daily flights
available, and then from Kendari to take the fast boat to Bau-Bau. There are 2
fast boats each day departing at 7am and 12 noon. The journey to Bau-Bau takes
approximately 5 hours.
- Another
option is to take a PELNI ferry from Makassar to Bau-Bau, however the schedules
for these boats is produced on a monthly basis, so it is difficult to plan on
taking a PELNI boat as you will not know the schedule very far in advance.
Once in Bau-Bau
you can enjoy many diving opportunities, and you may like to spend a few days
here before moving onto Hoga Island in the Wakatobi Marine National Park.
Bau-Bau – Hoga
If you are
planning go do diving in the Wakatobi Marine National Park it is necessary to travel from Bau-Bau to Wanci
and then from Wanci to Hoga Island.
- There is an overnight boat from
Bau-Bau to Wanci which departs at 9pm every night, and arrives in Wanci at
approximately 7am. You can then take the public speed boat from Wanci to
Hoga Island which departs at approximately 9am each day, and takes approximately
2 hours.
