Diving Pasarwajo bay area on the east side
of Buton Island offers some very interesting and unique dive sites.
There are healthy coral reefs and also great muck diving and wreck
diving opportunities.
We have a great site where we can guarantee you will see mandarin fish in abundance and photographers can take their time in getting the
perfect shot! A large colony of mandarin fish inhabit a small rubble area along with many other interesting critters.
There are 2 wrecks to be explored, both sunken tug-boats which are a legacy to the areas once
booming asphalt trade. These wrecks make great hiding places for all
kinds of unusual critters just waiting to be photographed! These dive sites make great night dive spots as well as day diving spots.
Another site
offers a surprisingly healthy reef considering it is dotted with many
small caves from where fresh water gushes out visibly, enabling us to
see and feel the haloclines and thermoclines and observe the unusual
array of fish and critters which thrive in this unique environment. This spot has often been voted a favourite site by our guests.
For something different again we will take you to some wall and overhang dive sites boasting stunning coral topography to rival any found in the Wakatobi (which is just a stone's throw away from Pasarwajo). The colouful panoramas are breathtaking and one such site has earned the name 'Turtle Town' due to the abundance of these friendly creatures which seem to frequent the spot.
We recommend that anyone wishing to dive around Pasarwajo, allows themselves at least 2 days to really discover the amazing variety of diving that Pasarwajo has to offer. Although diving day trips can also be arranged for those short on time.
Pasarwajo can be reached by road and is a 1.5 hour drive from Bau-Bau.
Once in Pasarwajo we use a small boat to access the dive sites around
the bay.
